We need to change scam laws to execution

    I hate liars

I hate with a passion people of no ethics and integrity.

But scam artists take my hatred to a whole different level. Would like to have it legal to have them executed.

Been looking for a Rhino in the 2006-2010 range for the “right price” Finally find one at a reasonable price and try to make arrangements to meet up. Then it’s “I have someone coming tonight…. you can pay me now and I’ll hold it.0

Me, I’ll be there in 1 hour to check it out with cash in my pocket”

Scammer “no, it’s already at the shipping company, I’ll send you all the pics you want. I’ll give you 5 days to test it out and return if you don’t like”

    Me ……. more wasted time

I agree…and at least you didn’t fall for it.

Not apples to apples but Amazon is turning into a cesspool of fraudulent crap as well. I’ve returned so much lately it’s sick. When purchasing anything of value, I’m buying from a reputable source…and c-list ain’t one of them anymore either.

Yup. Some people just suck! I have refrained from ordering on amazon because of all the fake goods being sold as legit in there. Glad you didn’t lose any cash on this bogus seller tho.

Most of the time, their English is poor.I have seen crap pop-up on bookface, usually a hacked account. And they will disappear on CL once they have to pay for the ad,like in the cars/trucks section.

I was looking for an ATV the last few months, and met the same face-to-face.They claim machine is”mint”,but when inspecting found stuff wrong.Notable were cracked clutch belt covers on a few Polaris models. Not even going to bother with someone that misrepresents items. The good ones don’t last long, have to jump on them asap.

I order more and more from Amazon all the time. There are some cheaper products, but I can’t say I’ve ever been scammed or bought a fake good? I have noticed to really read all the reviews though, if there are multiple reviewers mentioning that product “was different size” “less than ordered” “didn’t match description” etc., then don’t order it. If it has no reviews, then also don’t order it. But most Amazon products have awesome return policies, so everything is easy to return if its not what you want.

Selling has become a paid in the arse too. Put an add up on Craigslist with a FIRM price on a steal of a deal and the first 5 callers want to talk you down on your price!

This is the best. I darn near gave away a boat about 10 yrs ago… 1/2 the people wanted more off, the other half said they’d be willing to pay more if they could buy it for that price. It was to funny seeing the emails come thru haggling on that price.

Just part of the selling process and most people factor this in when pricing an item. Human nature is what it is, may as well get mad at people for breathing as well.

Selling on Craigslist you just learn to tell which buyers are bottom-feeding chancers and slimy flippers vs which are real buyers who really want the item to use. Those are the guys to deal with.

Had a 1988 15 HP Johnson in near mint condition with rare factory electric start that I finally sold last summer. Put it up for a reasonable price factoring in most guys need at least something off to feel good, so I added $50. Phone and email was on fire 10 minutes later with the usual spank monkey flippers offering half, each got copy/paste reply “Read ad. Note part about no flippers, tire kickers or ass p!ckers.”

Then a guy called and begged me to hold it until 5:00. Told me all about the boat he had restored, 15 HP was exactly what it had on it when his dad owned it. He wanted the outboard so bad he was almost begging. Never even mentioned the price, that’s the clue right there that a guy is serious and legit. He was there at 4:59, watched it run for 1 minute, handed over cash, and was gone 5 minutes later.

I sold a Corolla a while back. Lowball emails were flying in even though the price clearly said “won’t go any lower, but I will go higher” I responded to each lower offer with the same difference higher. Most replied I was either going the wrong way or azzhole. The guy that bought it was $1000 more when he came to look at it. We settled up at my original stated price. Had to tell a few I couldn’t sell it to them because they didn’t have the mentality to understand

I have a closeup picture of my dog’s azzhole. In my add I state that “I will only answer texts and low-ballers get sent a picture of my dog’s azzhole”. Even still, I get a fair amount of use out of that picture.

Freaking brilliant. Totally agree, why get mad at the asshats, jerkbaits, and jackwagons that, unfortunately, represent a significant portion of the population? You know they’re out there, so have some fun with them.

I had some jerkbait take the time to email me that there was no way I was going to sell a boat for what I was asking. He wasn’t interested, just HAD to take the time to tell me how overpriced I was.

So when I sold it, I emailed him a picture of my middle finger on top of the 10k in cash I had just taken for selling the boat for the asking price. Count ’em, beeeeach.

I did that a few months ago to someone, but I think I was nice about it…. But I was just trying to give them realistic expectations. A few weeks prior I was selling the exact same thing, listed for about 1/5 of their listed price, and got no offers on it (Ended up giving it away to a family friend who had a use for it). Just wanted to give them a heads up… Half a year later, I see this person still has the item for sale on FB Marketplace.

Yeah the guys that curse you out for not taking a significant hit on your asking price are the best. I had one guy offer me half my price plus I pay shipping across the US that cost as much as I was asking for the item. I politely declined and got cursed out, so I sent him all the offers at asking price I got.

Those people are clearly reseller douchebags that can’t hold a real job. I just hang up, ignore texts or tell them to leave.

I like some of these ideas though.

    First off, scammers.
I have friends & family reaching “a certain age” the calls they get and what these people are trying to do is absolutely disgusting. Hardworking, law abiding citizens and people to lazy to do things the hard way are taking advantage of them.

Never bought or sold anything on Craigslist. Usually word of mouth is enough to get it done.

Never had a problem with Amazon, nor anyone I know.

I had an older F14 and 15 hp Evinrude I needed to sell as we were moving to a place without the room and I didn’t use it often enough to justify paying to store it (great tiny lake boat, two guys could carry that thing around w/out the outboard on it). I was on the higher end of a fair price assuming I’d get talked down some. One of the first responses I got was how it’s not worth anything and I should be ashamed of what I was asking for it. I should have kept his email seeing as I ended up selling the boat/trailer separate from the outboard and ended up with more than my asking price combined. The guy who bought the boat/trailer came from 4 hours away to buy it and said you couldn’t find boats like that for anything close to what I asked.

I only ever noticed the spam responses on Craigslist with larger items ($500+ I’d say) which I haven’t sold a lot of. Small items I’ve never had that issue.

    Randy,
Read your post yesterday and couldn’t have agreed more. I would of bought the bullets. Opened my mail last night and got a letter from Southwest Credit Collections Agency. They have a debt from Time Warner Cable indicating I owe 486.00 for equipment. With other charges I owe 782.00. I’ve never had an account with Time Warner. Never got a letter indicating I owed anything. I’ve lived at my current address for more than about 20 years. Called the collection agency and they tried telling me I lived in Texas. Once we got past that, they gave me a link to their Identity Theft department. Now I get to go through a 6 week effort to try and clean this up.

Opened my email this morning and have a message from Apple. It indicates my Apple ID has been disabled until I fill out a new billing form. The email address looks kind of weird. Sure enough, another scam. I wish we could line them all up. )(*&$#)($&#)(&$ SOBs.

I’ve ordered a shotton…no more then that, a Fxxkton of items from Amazon over the last 15 months.

Only one time did I have a problem and it was with a 12v fan that was $10 less expensive then anyplace else that I could find it on line. (might of been my first clue).

The seller company didn’t respond to my emails, so a few clicks in the PayPal resolution center and my funds were returned in about 7 days. I don’t think it could be any easier.

The phone rings daily or more often, calls from Microsoft, Apple, Social Security, etc. I am on every no call list that exists but that only deters legitimate businesses.

Shooting them is too easy on the scammers. Staked out on a fire ant hill sounds about right to me.

When I get the scams saying the Sheriff is on his way to arrest me I reply ” You better get a hold of him before he gets here so he can bring the SWAT team because I’ve got an arsenal in here..
