How many times have you heard that line? Well, on Friday, it was our story. My old friend, Mark Jenzen, a retired teacher from Minnesota Lake, decided we haven’t fished in way too long. He drove up Friday AM, & Another friend, Dave Birk, came down from the Twin Cities, nod we tried MY hot spots. We first struggled in Red Wing. One small crappie & two small bass were all we had to show in the first three hours. We tried a couple of shoreline spots down toward the head of Lake Pepin without finding anything.

We packed up and took off for Wabasha. One of the spots that had always produced nice sized crappies & sunnies gave us five to ten even smaller crappies & a few sunfish. Mark landed the only keeper for the day, and at this point, we returned it to the River. By 4 PM, we had had enough fun for the day, and packed it in. Everyone we talked to was having a similar day, so we didn’t sell the boat & the gear. The company was borderline decent, but we have seen better days. Maybe next time.

Good luck to anyone else trying it.

Ed, that’s just the way it goes sometimes. But it’d take a helluva lot for me to sell the ‘boat & gear!’ )

I have to agree with you there! I got home, and after warming up, decided to get some home chores done before I head back out. Kind of like working in the garage when it’s raining!
