What tactics would you use for Walleye and Muskie when the lake is so full of Cisco it looks like the lake is boiling?
I was throwing everything in the box at them and NOTHING.
The lake literally looked like the smaller version of Asian carp jumping out of the water. It was crazy.

I didn’t have any far out crazy color lures, but I might give that a try in hopes they will attack something different.

How deep were you fishing? Much of the time guys are fishing under the fish, especially if the surface is boiling with baitfish.

I’d find the right column and the right bait that’ll get ya a reaction bite.

I would take those cowgirls to the bar and have a good time.

I’d try and match the bait fish, so some white plastics for Cisco, and cast into the boiling area and let it fall out. The predators should be feeding on the ones that get separated from the school, I’ve seen enough Shark Week’s to know that much!

They were everywhere but I like the idea of going to the Bar with the Cowgirls. Then who knows, maybe a rodeo? wink

I’d adjust your settings to concentrate on the top 40′ of the water column, doesn’t matter to much what’s below that since you’re fishing fish not structure. You will be able to get a much better picture of the prey and predators below you. DI will also create more of a clearer picture with more defined seperation.

Personally I don’t trust depthfinder algorithms to tell me what’s what.

Probably not much you can do. If you were full of cheeseburgers and beer, would you eat cake too?

On the plus side, if you do hook one, it’s going to be a healthy fish.

I assume this is Mille Lacs.

You seem to be looking for fish pretty damn deep.

There is a lake in Wright County with a similar pattern. Deep, clear lake with a fair amount of cisco and herring. I’ve never tried it, but I know of guys that do well trolling big cranks out over deep water (60-80′). Big fish are suspended chasing the bait. Just have to figure out what depth they’re suspending and run a little above. A lot of times they were only running 15-20′ down.

    Seems easy enough. LOL

The last 3 nights I did everything the way they are doing it and in the same location as the video.

    Freakin Blanked! bawling

I just found a really nice boulder and I’m tying all my fishing stuff to it now. I’ll be heading out at dusk to drop it in the 125′ hole on the south end of Roosie.

Anyone have a recommendation on what type of Golf clubs I should buy?

I’ll just hang some treble hooks off my downrigger balls next summer to conduct some recovery. Fresh water preserves things pretty well.

Those numbers next to the walleyes on your graph must represent their length. That’s the way I like to interpret it.

Hi-how-are-ya. Was it a ceremonial burial of your fishing gear?

I’ll bring a magnet to retrieve your 7 iron from 125’ next summer.
