Waterproof Boat Cover

Need to buy a boat cover for my 2012 1725 Pro Guide and am looking for recommendations. Would mainly be for storage outside during summer months, not necessary for traveling but would be a nice perk. Has to be waterproof though! Saw Sealskinz had custom ones fairly cheap but was wondering if they were indeed “cheaply” made?

Are you open to having a custom one? My experience is the off the shelf covers don’t fit very well and only last a couple seasons outdoors.

A custom will be more expensive but will last a long time and fit well.

+1 on custom cover. Best accessories I’ve ever added to boats were custom snap on covers. IMO they are the only truly waterproof covers because they don’t sag and let water pool. No matter how waterproof the material on a generic cover is, it will sag and let water pool in some area and that will end up in your boat.

My dad just had a terrific custom cover made for his boat last summer. Fits like a Tupperware lid. Drove in the rain up to Canada with a cardboard box in the boat, cardboard wasn’t even damp. No way could you do that with a generic one size cover, it would have billowed and let in water.

Your going to spend about $700 on a custom cover. But well worth it.

Where do you live? Are there any Amish communities nearby?

My old neighbor had a custom motorcycle cover made by the Amish that fit his Harley like a glove. I think he paid about $150 for it. If I recall correctly, it was the Lomg Prairie/Osakis group that made it. He left his bike with them for a couple day and they shaped a cover around every nook and cranny.

Best price for a custom cover is Economy Canvas in East Bethel. Had one made for my center console for about $300. I’ve had it for 4 1/2 years now and it is still holding up good. I use it year round to cover my boat outside.

I also highly recommend a custom cover. I had used the off the shelf covers for many years. Never again. I had a custom snap on cover made last spring and couldn’t be happier. My boat spent last summer on a lift on mille lacs. In a storm it rained over 4 inches and there was not one drop of water in the boat.
