Watering set up

It’s been a very dry spring at the farm this year and we have been working on a watering set up… well my son has. He got it all set up Saturday and we were going to test it on the apple orchards, but it rained all night Saturday night thankfully. It’s all good to go now. It’s portable so we can drive it right to the plots this summer in the Polaris Ranger. It has a 175 gallon water tank and a gas powered pump that will pump up to 2000 gallons per hour. We will hook up a splitter going to 2 hoses that lead to sprinklers on 6′ stakes. Then just move from plot to plot. Kind of a red neck set up, but in times of drought this should help keep the plots growing. The big 4 acre plot might be a challenge and time consuming to water, but the smaller 1-1.5 acre plots it should work well on. I hope we don’t have to use it, but if need be it will be nice to have.

Nice. Dad and I have been worrying a lot this spring about SD. Well, they finally got 3+ inches of rain since last Thursday. I’ll be home in two weeks and plan to convert one of our tanks to be able to water some trees we planted last year.
