yeah… i think Heavyshot has a natural charicteristic to patter pretty tight. at leasts thats what i hear. i have not shot it so i dont know

but there was a chance that the choke was TOO TIGHT for the shot and created a poor pattern. maybe use modified possibly just my thoughts……..

Perhaps that is the problem. Perhaps a .270 would have been a better weapon of choice????

When I first purchase Hevi-shot I was using 3″ #4s. Was have some difficulty with consistantly hitting ducks. Was advised by some guys to go down to 3″ #6s for ducks. That was the ticket. 3″ #6s for ducks and 3″ #4s for geese. Knocks them dead. After finding the correct choke and shot, I’ll never shoot steel again. It is extremely important to pattern Hevi-shot using different chokes and different shot sizes. Once you find the right combo it is extremely lethal.

We use 2 3/4 inch 1 1/4 oz. #6 for ducks, and if you hit em, they are dead.

Occationally use #5’s for real late season when the mallards get a thick down on them.
