Sunday and Monday sound like excellent duck days. I will be out chasing bucks. Good luck Jake (and whoever else gets out).

Spent tuesday on a lake in Faribault county. There was about 2 to 300 mallard`s and the only guy`s on the lake. Must have been fairly new duck`s to the area. They all decoyed about 30 at a time. My shooting could of been a lot better, but we dropped 8 and a pair of honker`s to boot. I think the goosen will be better this weekend with the tough weather forcasted. Either way I will be out after them somewhere. Flip

Is that pretty good hunting over in the Farbault area , all we duck hunt is pool 4 or I use to sometimes shoot some of those potholes outside of Austin , if that’s what you want to call them ha . Always wondered about the water over there to hunt , but never sure where to go . Tim

Better get that spot early on Sunday Jake. I plan to have the deer hunting thing taken care of by 0700 on saturday. Rather hunt ducks any day.

    Predator:

Last weekend th robo would bring the birds down to check us out, but we could not get them to commit with it. We observed the same thing last year. Could still get some decent shots as they circled, but I love those landing gear lowered coming into the decoys shot. Pulling it helped, but I also think it hurts a bit for getting your spread noticed, so it is kind of a mixed bag.

Ducks were darn decoy and call shy, soft calling, quacks and chuckles, seemed the ticket. Loud greeting calls often flared them.

    No doubt Jake, good point.

The worst days we have had with it were calm days with no precip. Even wind helps as I think they have less time to float and look at it.

Wing nutt, I`m referring to Faribault county to the west of Albert Lea. It`s spotty and you need to do some scouting. Like everywhere else when the birds are down it can be good.

I’ll be scaring the goose [censored] right out of them if this forecast holds true. The locals are only going to fly to the city limits and fold shortly after hopefully, but if some young blood comes into the area so much the better. I don’t anticipate much for ducks not going to be enough open water or moving water in my area to hold them plus if there’s a foot of snow…no food to hold ’em either. Thankfully Geese aren’t as smart as they’ll stand on the ice and hang around for some added opportunity. Good luck and unload the shell box of the 2’s and 4’s.
