Folbe’s are the best trolling rod holders made IMO. Just pull straight up and your fighting the fish simple and flawless

Check out this video….
The Advantage was made for White Sturgeon out in Oregon. Extremely strong and THE most easily to pick up the rod..holders on the market.
I’ve used them for two years now and have been very satisfied.
Dean at Everts just recieved a new order of them Friday. I don’t know how many of them were sold after clients used them fishing with me…they have to be used to be appreciated.

anybody use driftmasters? ive used scottys and didnt really like them, thought it was akward pulling out a long handled rod. other ideas are appreciated, ill be rigging a new(to me) boat over the winter
I use Scotty and Driftmaster on my pontoon. I prefer the Driftmaster rod holder. They are simple to use and take up very little room. I use long handle rods for catfishing and the Driftmaster gives you the most flexibility for adjusting the length of the rod butt you place into the holder.
I use the Driftmaster clamp on holders so that I can place them anywhere I want – next year I am going to put in permanent Driftmaster mounts all around the boat.November 10, 2008 at 1:09 pm #721612Folbes are awesome but $$$. I’ve got RAMs in my boat and like them better than the Scotty holders.
dtroInactiveJordanPosts: 1501November 10, 2008 at 1:59 pm #721620I’ve tried just about every rod holder out there and think that the Driftmaster is probably the best I’ve used.
They are user friendly, and fit every rod size and shape.
Simple but effective.
November 10, 2008 at 5:52 pm #721665I have “Down East” rodholders and love them. They are all metal and are the “pull straight up” type of release. They clamp on boats with thin gunnels. Tough as nails and smooth as long as you lube the hinges once a year or so. Nice thing is you can move them around.
November 10, 2008 at 6:12 pm #721673when using the driftmasters, do your casting reels roll and end up facing down? and your rods dont slip when a flattie makes a run? i like the fact that their made of steel, have a lifetime warranty, and the bases are small enough that they wont get in the way.
dtroInactiveJordanPosts: 1501November 10, 2008 at 6:22 pm #721679No they lock in there nice and tight, yet release pretty easily.

I’ve never had any problems with the casting reels rolling over. I often run the rod out so just the tip of the butt is in the holder and they hold just fine and don’t roll. I like to use Driftmasters for tight lining channels and have had some vicious hits that will double the rod over in the holder with the drag slipping but the rod held tight in the holder. I guess it is a confidence thing – I just trust the Driftmaster and have never had any problems. They give you more flexibility for positioning your rod in the holder to match your seating arrangements without a rod butt hitting you in the knees all the time.
November 10, 2008 at 9:54 pm #721734Which model Driftmasters are you guys using…Troller, Trophy, Guide?
dtroInactiveJordanPosts: 1501November 10, 2008 at 11:37 pm #721751The one I’m referring to is the Duo, that allows the rod to be placed either at 0 degrees or 30 degrees
November 11, 2008 at 1:29 am #721780Don’t take my word for it! Doing a quick search on YouTube and Ido Fishing came up with these results.
Yes, there are less expensive holders out there.
I run 4 of them on my boat and won’t use anything but the Folbe’s. Dean set me up after I lost two sticks via the other mfrs’ rod holders. $29 is money in the bank after you lose a stick or two to a lesser quality holder. ~Ido Member
I use folbe’s also. They are very reasonably priced for the quality they are. I bought mine at Everts too!
I think anyone who ever has a chance to see my big rods(cat and sturgeon rods) doubled over in the holder with the drag going out is immediately sold on the quality of the folbe’s. I have seen them do some pretty scary things but they never let go, and I have yet to break one.
~Ido Staff Member/GuideI have folbes and love ’em!~ Ido Member
The Aft rails have the folbe rod holder system and do they shine. I have never had any holders release so effortlessly with a load on the rod. These folbe’s are fantastic. ~Ido Staff/Guide
The only place I’ve seen the Folbe’s not work is in a pontoon with two Lazyboy Recliners too close to the rail.
November 12, 2008 at 9:59 pm #722157I am sold on Folbes big time.
Give Dean a call he can set you up
September 26, 2013 at 5:44 pm #213466Any reports from Canada? I am heading to Manitoba Sunday morning for a week of goose/duck hunting. Just wondering how the numbers are up there this year? I am jacked up for this years annual trip cause both my sons are going with for the first time ever.
September 27, 2013 at 2:39 pm #132216The report I got from friends in Manitoba is the bird numbers are higher than last year. Last year was insane; best trip ever and most ducks we’ve seen for our group.
Good luck! Please share a report when you return.
September 27, 2013 at 5:49 pm #132225That is great news!! Last year was our best to date also and we have been doing this annual trip for over 15 years. Oh my shoulder is going to be soo sore by next week
Thanks for the report. I will give a full report when we return
