I am heading up shortly for sadly the last weekend of the year. I know there are frozen lakes and ponds, but anyone been out lately? I got good late season spots that don’t freeze until very late. Man, it seems the season goes so fast

Well, the season unfortunately is over, but it ended with a bang!! Dad and I hunted for 30 minutes Saturday morning to get our limit. There was one other party on the lake and we were set up about 20 minutes early and the ducks were everywhere. When shooting time came it didn’t take long and my yellow lab didn’t stop swimming for a half hour fetching ducks. Great hunt!! Sunday was a bit slower but we set up in the same spot and again got our 12 ducks in under 2 hours. Great way to end the season I will still do some goose hunting and maybe duck hunt around home, but the last day at the farm is Tuesday and I wont be back up til Thursday. Man the season is soo short

Sounds like you had a great end to the season. I couldn’t agree more that the season seems so short. So much going on in the fall and never enough time.

One hunt I never did was that late season duck when everything was locked up. I have heard laying a blue tarp on the ice can work. I would imagine a guy would need some “weather” and migrating ducks for it truly to work. Congrats on a great way to close out the season!
