Jessie made her first retrieve on sunday. I wanted to get her out a few times this year as she is not quite 6 months old yet. Her first time out, and she gets her first duck, wow. I thought she had the makings of a good dog for a while now, but I hope this confirms it. I know alot of work ahead, but it sure is fun. By the way she is a black lab, Nothing better than a dog and good friends for hunting companions. John

You are right! Nothing better that a good dog. My black lab is going on 13 and really starting to slow down. I am afraid to hunt her but know that she would go in a minute. When she was a pup I spent everyday training. Had her whistle trained and marking douples were easier for her. Even had her trained to hand signals. I was lucky to meet a guy who trained and run dogs at lic. field trials. He forced trained her and I will never have a dog as good as she is again. Nothing better that the pup bringing back her first bird and giving you that “Get me another” look. You have may good times ahead of you. Good luck.
