Where the heck are they???

Just me, or is anyone else noticing a complete lack of geese this year??? Opener day is usually fast and furious, but I have yet to see any frequenting any of the spots I know…Whats up?!?!?

The northwest metro is loaded with geese! They are hitting fresh cut alfalfa hard right now.

If your looking near Northfield go south and any picked corn is holding birds. I will be hunting around Bixby which is holding birds but our problem was getting permission. Put some miles down and you will find them eventually

I hunt within 5 minutes of my house, and I’d rather not have to knock on doors. This spot is usually pretty darn good.

I have been seeing smaller numbers but more areas holding birds this year as well. No big numbers, just a steady few about every where (SC MN). I lived in Northfield for 4 years and to be honest I always remembered the numbers getting stronger as the season went on. Then again, I didn’t get a lot of time to get out with class and ball. I do remember there being a lot of alfalfa in that area of the state (vs canning crops like here) maybe a recent cutting holds the opportunity to run traffic?? Early season brings along confused birds which can be very nice for running traffic.
