Early goose season question?

    Can you hunt over water or not for the early goose season?

    Looks like it depends on the area.

    From the regs.

    SURFACE WATER RESTRICTIONS

    A person may not hunt geese during the September goose

    season within 100 yards of surface water in the following areas:

    • Northwest Goose and Sandhill crane zone

    • Carlos Avery Wildlife Management Area

    • Swan Lake Area

    • Ocheda Lake Game Refuge

    Surface water restrictions

    “Surface water” includes, but is not limited to wetlands, lakes, rivers and streams.

    Temporarily flooded cropland, pasture, or other temporarily flooded areas (unless

    contiguous with lakes, wetlands, rivers or streams) are not included. This restriction

    does not apply to youth participating in the youth waterfowl hunt or in other areas

    as specifically authorized by the commissioner.

    Sorry, I know better! i should have been more careful on that response…. I was thinking of the WI Side Mississippi River…. Didn’t realize the restrictions state wide or for other states!
