Took a trip last year that had us driving I-80 through Nebraska. Was very impressed with the numbers of ducks and especially geese along that big stretch from Grand Island to Sidney.

So anyone hunt out here. Did some high level looking on the internet and not much pops up for outfitters. Can a guy freelance out here? What is land access like?

Would like to get in one good trip this year as my ND trip fell through. All these places are within a days drive.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

    Cougar:

Nebraska is hard to hunt with out some type of help, I guess… It seems that everything is leased, making it very hard to find places to hunt. I was certainly impressed years ago with the amount of waterfowl when I drove to Colorado. But most every waterfowler I know says without a guide that has a lease, you just can’t get to the ducks…

Sounds like SD may have some of the best hunting out that way this year, though I am sure that ND still had some good hunting. I would try to hook up with someone who knows the MI River right now until the end of the season, IMHO some of the best waterfowling is right out your back door!!!

    Good luck!!!

I have heard similar things about the Platte in Nebraska. A friend and frequent hunting partner of mine went to aviation school down in Nebraska. He was able to find some land owners that let him in through local friends. However, he said it was very hard to get into because most every thing was leased up. I have often wanted to give Nebraska a late season try, just always seems to fall through Probably worth a trip with ‘figuring it out’ expectations.
