Finally getting around to writing about opening weekend last Saturday
Unfortunately, with the drought, our marsh has very limited water and thus hunting spots. Based on scouting after the youth hunt the prior weekend, we knew where we wanted to go.
John and I left at 4:00 am, with the intention of getting to the parking area by 4:55 am. 3 vehicles were already there! We headed in, and got the bad news as we approached the blind we wanted. We headed to our second favorite spot and set up shop. Craig and Andrew joined us around 8:00 am.
We only saw woodies (that is what we expected) and had our 12 by ~ 10:20. Not too shabby for the late shooting time on opening day.
