.Thinking about heading to the La Crosse area to duck hunting the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Where is a good place to start. From flying over before, it looks good south of the airport and also the cresent shaped islands to the north west.

    Any help would be great!!!!!!!

The Crescent shaped islands are in the middle of the refuge on Lake Onalaska, so that would be a BAD idea!

By that weekend, your places could be as limited by ice as they are by anything. I would suggest using the first day to drive around and scout. If you have a mud motor vs. and outboard vs. walking in will make a difference as well.

After being out this morning – I’d say duck season is over…Goose is nearly iced shut and there was nothing flying nor anybody shooting this morning. Saw just a few birds and killed 1 Can…

    Slop:

It will really be just the diehards and how long they hold on will depend on the how the river ices this week. Weather man says a couple of nice days, then the bottom falls out again. I heard there was some hunting available in the P9 area, but that could be short-lived as well. I am going to try to hunt south closing weekend (Dec. 4-5) somewhere, just don’t know where that is just yet. If it has to be field geese/ducks, so be it!!!
