Trip to Canada this year was fantastic. We did not have great weather for hunting, 75 degrees, blue skys and zero wind. We had thousands of snows and honkers in the area but with the nice “golf” weather we had a little trouble getting snows to finish. However, we had some of the best honker hunting ever with limits every day except one where we just were not on the right spot. If you have not been to Canada it is a waterfowlers paradise and you should put it on the bucket list. Me and the pooch had a lot of fun and he got a lot of work being the only dog.

We have also built relationships with the locals and they come and hunt with us a couple days. We use willow blinds when they come with because that is what they use. Willow branches stuck in the ground is all it is. It is hard to believe but they work better than our coffin blinds and they are awesome to shoot out of.

Here are a few photos of our trip

Looks like you had a fantatic trip! You are right, I need to add it to my list of future trips.

Willow branches?!? Who would have thought? Great tip to try, thanks.

Holy cow. Proof is in the photos. Thats a lot of goose jerky! Nice work.

I too was in Canada the previous week, although we were strickly after divers. We didn’t see big rafts of bills and redheads like typical migration years, I suspect in part due to the balmy weather. Regardless of the “poor” weather, we still took home a good proportion.

Again…nice photos, thats a pile of birds.

Ya, very odd year. Getting limits of ducks is usually not an issue, but this year the locals ducks were gone and nothing had arrived. If we would have had one morning with some wind and a little overcast we really could have put a beat down on the snows also. However, we still had a fantastic time. 9 boxes of shells in 4 morning hunts means we had our fun .

Just purchased 20 more dozen sillosocks just thinking of next year.
