This might seem a little silly, but…

What is the reason for waiting until 9 a.m. for duck season to open in WI? Seems kind of goofy to me? I’ve never been able to come up with a solid answer for this. Thanks for the info!

So that a lot of guys don’t get out and set up super early, then at first light, you get blasted by the guy you could not see from across the way.b

If that was the logic it would be a 9am start everyday.

I have been told that the reason for this time is so that the ducks can keep some kind of a pattern to their roosting and feeding, and that also goes along with the 4 pm close(minnesota)for the first week. I still see no logic in that rule for only one day…?

and the nine o’clock opener was to be better than the 12 noon opener… Got no idea for either time, but in my opinion 9 is still better than waiting until noon.
