Well we had a decent opener to start off the duck year. Not being able to shoot until 9a.m. on the opener stinks, b/c we had birds all around us in the early morning. That, coupled with a bit of rust w/the shooting eye, we only managed 3 birds on day 1.

Day two however was a different story. We had 10 ducks by 8:15 this morning, We were hard pressed to get our final two ducks b/c all we kept seeing were woodies…but no big deal…of the two Mallards that did come in, we got them both and 1 ended up being BANDED!! All in all, a solid start to the season. Day 2 totals for Dave and I = 6 Woodies, 2 Mallards, 1 teal, 1 Ringneck.

Sweet! And starting out the season with a banded bird already ! I like the picture of your set up. Looks like it was all working for you and you got your shooting eye back in the grove

Nice job Slop Seeing your set-up pics, make me want to get back into duck hunting. I learned to duck hunt in the early 80’s, when there wasn’t any ducks… I loved the early morning set-ups and the anticipation… I think I got 3 ducks in about 4 years Maybe I just wasn’t any good at it, but I sure didn’t see many. I see lots of them now, the woodies are in the creek every night
