We spent about 4 hrs on the river yesterday….it’s NOT LOOKING GOOD BOYS!!!!

Simply put, there is NO land……no islands, no pot holes…….just railroad tracks and water. The middle of the woods is all 5′ deep……Honestly I don’t have a single decoy rigged with enough cord to hit bottom anywhere right now……and it’s not supposed to crest until Thursday.

The landings are all under water and there’s some large [censored] coming down.

It also has the ducks waaaaaay spread out……..just randomly swiming through the trees.

Not trying to detour anyone, but I’ve never hunted it when it’s been this high……..Any plan you thought you might have had is out the window……it’s going to be a real struggle if you don’t have the time to get out and scout around prior to this weekend.

And my buddies wonder why I have 12 ft strings on my coy!! Im assumeing the retention ponds I planed on hunt will be briming with water making the shimp hard for the birds to get at, but on the plus side I now have flooded corn, beans and wheat stubble! Options and adaptation will be the keys to opener this year I feel. Thanks for the heads up Jake

Or…………………….You could tell the bride and groom “I won’t be there. Tough ****, it’s duck opener. Oh and congrats.” I’ve blown off many a wedding for various hunting/fishing excursions.

Just made a loop around town……as of 10:30 Monday morning the ramps and parking lots on the MN side of 5a and 6 are barricaded off and/or under water…….Heard the Ft. City landings are closed as well…….same story pool 4-9…..now I’m detouring you……don’t bother coming down, nobody is gettin in!

I didn’t make it down to Goose Island, but I’m assuming it is under water as well…let alone giving us any place to hunt out there…Here is 7th St. and Clinton St. landings…and I found the ducks to boot!!

I spent yesterday making the loop around to some of my favorite spots. Two problems, some of my favorites are under some serious water, and even if they weren’t, I don’t think I’m getting a boat with a motor into any landing around here. Anyone have a canoe they aren’t using? I may be heading North for the Southern opener.

I also believe it’s “No Wake” everywhere on the river now also
