Even the best “spots” on the river don’t produce every year. Usually we see a bit of a cycle that can have a great spot in year 1 go fairly cold for a couple of years until all the key factors of water temp, water level, clarity and time of year align to put those fish back in the same key “spot on the spot” again. The ability to pick out key locations and fish those areas effectively are much more important than learning a good spot or two.
As far as those monster lake walleye go… next year I need to ask to borrow lakemaster’s hovercraft for the winter. It would be a heck of a lot of fun to get after those fish during that last month before ice out.
