Just got back from a week in NoDak. Typical as always, great hunting and great people. The only reason we didn’t limit out on ducks every day was because we chose not to. Passing on hens and species we didn’t want to harvest.

A lot of busting ice, had to bust over an inch of ice on one flooded corn field. The wind got to be a bit much one day as well.

Here are a couple trophy birds from the trip.

    A double banded Lesser Scaup.

The Bull Canvasback my buddy has been hoping for.

Cool pics! I’m jealous, I won’t be making the trip back ‘home’ again this year! Miss it every time I don’t go!

Oh well, getting out tomorrow for the WI re-opener.

    Thanks for the pics!

PS, what part of the state were you in?

Ruger which area were you hunting? I’m heading to north Dakots next Friday. Hopefully too many birds didn’t puch through allready.

We were in the Devils Lake area. Plenty of area for hunters and game. Plenty of water also, as long as it’s not frozen up. It would freeze and open up during our time out there. We’ve been doing this trip for the last 4 years now. Great people out there and tons of ducks.

We really don’t even bother waterfowling MN any more. It’s just disappointing and can’t compare when you are used to NoDak.

In fact, I can honestly say I saw maybe 12 ducks along the highway all the way to NoDak. There is a magic line that you seem to cross once in Nodak. Empty potholes all of a sudden are full. Man I love it out there.

It gets tougher each season for us to continue hunting MN as well but I’ll take a so-so day in the cattails in MN over a day at the office anytime. If non-residents weren’t so limited in days in NoDak I would suspect we’d quit MN altogether.

You’re right about that “magic line”. It’s incredible.
