Heading up to Baudette for the first time. Last year my buddy and his group had 41 on the ground before heading to work the fishing charters . High expectations hopefully they won’t be let down!

I was excited then Mom said with a 6 month old I would be wise to stay at home a little more this year. So I cut that out early season. However I added 3 days to my opening pheasant hunt. If you leave and don’t come back it’s only 1 hunt right?

I wish the MN DNR was not so sticky about weekends. We’d be opening up on Sep 1 as well then.

    Bummer.

It’s a bummer that the early goose season is not on labor day weekend this year. Oh well I can’t wait to be killing ducks in December…finally!

Hey our temps are going to be in the 60’s the rest of the week and from those scouting for geese, I have been hearing good reports about the ducks.

Heidi and I scouted a bit over the weekend. Not many crops down out here. Only a few hay and wheat fields are down. The corn should be coming down by second weekend of early goose but definitely won’t be this weekend.

There are a lot of geese around but they are scattered all over the place and they aren’t using anything consistently. We will keep lookin evenings the rest of the week and see if we can find something for the weekend.

We hit Cabelas over the labor day weekend and picked up 16 GHG FFD full bodies to add to our spread which will be really nice since we have just been hunting over shells the last couple years.

Excited would be an understatement. Shaking not sleeping, can’t concentrate while at class. Sounds more like my routine. Our garage is packed ten blinds, nine dozen full bodies, four dozen shells, mallard dekes, half a dozen deer stands for last minute spots, ya i would say bring on the fall. Tonight is gonna be rough. Might just stay up and watch Foiles 5 again.
