On saturday three buddies of mine went out and had geese flying all day. They didnt get out in the field until 9:00 and left at 11:30 with only 3 geese. But 2 out of the 3 honkers had bands. So 5 of us went out this morning with 7 dozen dekes and our whites on. We didnt get out in the field until 8:00 and on the way out we got stuck two times. The first we pushed our way out of but the second we had to call someone to bring a chain and pull us out. We had a gmc yukon that we barried in the combine ruts. As soon as we got the dekes set up a pair came in and i knocked down the closest one and the other got away. Next a single came in and he didnt get away. The rest of the day until about 10:15 was perty fast passed. And we got 2 more around 10:00 or so. Around 11:00 2 of the guys left when 2 other showed up. We had another pair and a single come in that didnt get away. And a flock of 20 or so was just in range enough to knock down one more. We ended up with 8 honkers from 8:00 to 1:30. But unfortenly none of these had bands. Sorry for not posting any pics i didnt have my camera with this time. Hopfully ill make it out tomorrow for the last day of goosin’ but now its time to raise hell with the roosters for a couple weeks then its time for fox and yotes.

After putting on some miles and taking some notes, I found where the birds were heading and alerted the malitia. Tough to find guys on a Wed. afternoon but after getting their routine down we went out to our pits and shot a limit of geese in an hour. We landed two singles before the mother-load came down upon us. We landed a scattered dozen birds before the main flock, which consisted of better than 40 birds came down with confidence, big mistake as it ended our day. Birds were very cooperative although I think the fog helped, both calling and flagging were in high order. Some birds were chatting up a storm while others just needed the site of movement in the spread. I have seen a couple of farmers spreading cow dung, which the birds are feeding in right now. Find the poo, find the birds.
