Anyone scouting Geese for Fridays opener? I have been scouting but cant find any Geese outside the refuge. Seems like the flight is from 11:30-3:30 would anyone agree with that ? Also I’m wondering if the snow/cold temps has sent alot migrating south

We found Friday good in one field, poor in two others. We shot 25 out of one field on Friday but really had to work for them. Way tougher than I would have expected opening of the late season to go. Saturday and Sunday were even slower!

Scouting report is in for a total of three day’s of goose hunting. The total was 92 geese and with the warmer temps coming it should only get better. Geese were South for two day’s and then Sunday everything was West of town.

Tell ya what………..I was with Tim and the boy’s on Sun. and we dropped 2 geese out of the same flock that were really different! The 1st 1 was a 12 1/2 pound giant. Huge wing Span, then bear went afer the 2nd one which glided about 300 yrds away. He came back with it and it weighed maybe 6-7 pounds and had very little fat on it.Kinda weird that these 2 would be hanging out together!

So what do you guys think the over kill is like this year. Above average, normal, or below. From what I have gathered from what people say, I would say below. This is a Rochester specific question.

Eric. I would say this is the worst season since 93! There have been birds here, either just got smarter or it’s just geese being geese. Tough to decoy and figure out.

I think that it was really good early. I think that those “calendar birds” were early and those birds stayed around for a long time, but we killed ’em. The snow, then ice, then snow combination killed us for the later part of the regular season and will continue to kill us for the rest of the year. If the ice wasn’t around there would be more geese around. The peak around town was nowhere near the usual years, I think the highest I heard was 26,000(?), anyone else hear higher(or lower)? All in all I would call the goose season a dissapointment and the duck season a success.
