well you ave read my other post, I shot that ring neck on thanksgiving day, well on sunday, i was rewarded again, after breaking through 2″ of ice for 300 yards after the easy stuff, opening a hole up that was 20 yards by 40 yards and clearing most of the ice off, I was rewarded with this mallard. so now I am in a pickle, the bird from thanksgiving day was the last time we where able to hunt that pond and I was almost arrested by a prior lake policeman, then this mallard was a sweet reward for the hard work and being die hard and making my morning hunt happen no matter how much ice.

so tell me what you think.

    hi Shane,
Congrats on some nice Ducks, I like the colors of the Mallard, but a pair of them hanging from the ceiling would be very cool.

If that greenhead is a bigger mallard with more than 2 curls I would mount that one!

Ringbills are neat looking but I LOVE huge greenheads!!!

actually my wife lets me put stuff like ducks and pheasant and grouse on the table, I can even clean them in the house.

as far as almost being arrested by a prior lake policeman, it was alot of stuff that lead up to him telling us that he was going to give us a ticket for shooting guns inside city ordinance, the pond was never posted as a no hunting zone after ordinance passed, guess it has been that way for a couple of years, even last year, the CO stopped by while there where 4 of us at the landing and checked out how we did, but never once mentioned that part of the pond was off limits to hunting. so I got a little upset that our hot spot got taken away from us, now I have to find some new spots around up on this side of town. anyone know of any good spots for ducks?????

hey klink, how much to mount that other bird, thinking on doing both?

I wouild mount the ringneck. Of course, I would love a mounted mallard, but just can’t seem to find the perfect bird.

Actually, if the story and memory from one bird is better than from the other bird, I would mount that one.
