I was actually up there about 2 weeks ago I did Terrible! But then agan we sat for almost 3 hours and there wasn’t a bird in the air. Heck we didn’t see a bird in the air for the entire ride home either So I wouldn’t rule out based on that outing. I believe that weekend Every one had a rough time since we had a nice wind coming from the south

I havent hunted Carlos for years. It used to be ok if you got there real early and got away from the people. I have only had one truly great outing there over time and that was a late season mallard shoot when the northerns were down and I was breaking ice(didnt have competition).

Its one of those places that can be good when the stars line up just right, but usually its a bunch of energy for maybe a bird or 2, not my favorite place to hunt.

OK thanks. just hard as I know there are places there I can get far away from people and I do not like hunting near people and no private land to hunt. thanks for the help.

I hear ya man. I have snuck around in there during the week. It is not that bad.

But I bought a map on the DNR website of public land around Chisago and Washington county it really helps. There is more public land around then you think.

If you do a little diggin you will be able to find some decent public land.

This is the where you can start to look Public land

    hope this helps

Thanks. I have a huge book of the 7 county area, but it is from about 1999 so figure that is all no good anymore.

I need to get out a few more times before ice up too, I got sidetracked by fishing in our long period of warm weather.

I often have an open seat too broncosguy. If your looking for a partner just about any day of the week its usually not hard to encourage me to go. I hunt more west, and south of the metro.

I might have to use a sick day here coming up to take you up on that. I do not have the boat, but have the decoys and calls. So I try to hunt area where my chest waders will work.

Its always a good time blowing out bearings on the freeway at 3:30 in the morning

You have to give me credit, the dekes were set up with time to spare before shooting time and we got a few birds that day, could have been way worse!

Any time you want to hunt broncosguy, let me know. Shoot me a PM. Im always looking for an excuse to go shoot at something. I might even make it out tomorrow.
