I got out on the Mississippi river again yesterday for an all day hunt. We were set up in a blind about 40 min before shooting time. The morning started really ruff, but I did not miss a shot after 9 am.
I missed a single drake woodie with two shots from about 12 yards away Then we had a group of mallards work into the decoys and we missed two shot each Another group of mallards started working the decoys and on their third time around the guy in the blind down from us started screaming on his call at the ducks we had working . The ducks started banking over to him, so naturally we were more then upset. My brother let it get the best of him and Whistled really loud and the ducks turned around and came right back to us. Flustered we ended up with only one bird.
About 20 min later a small group of mallards started working the others guys blind. We fought back the urge to call over him, and his birds worked right in and he took three of them. Right after that we had a big group working us, after the 5th trip over the decoys that same guy starts blaring on his call and the birds took off in his direction. These birds were still up about 80 yards when this ahole started shooting . We let some very loud words fly at this point, and tried to shake it off.
Not long after we had a single come in and I took it. That was followed by another single. About then we could hear that guy packing up his stuff so we started getting excited. Right then we could hear geese and they were heading our way It was a group of 6 geese and as we were calling they were locking up and droping down for a closer look. Then we hear BAM BAM BAM, the guy that was getting his decoys started swating coots Again words fly and this guy quickly runs his boat out of the back water area and heads to the ramp Because I don’t have a mud motor and it takes me 20 min to idle back to the ramp I was not able to go talk with this guy.
Around 3:00 I ended up getting another single.
We ended up with 2 mallards, 1 bluebill, and 1 Blue wing Teal. The teal was the big surprise of the trip, I thought the blue wings would be long gone by now.
Sorry no pictures today, I got home to late to mess with it.
I LOVE PUBLIC LAND HUNTING
