Worst Week Ever!

I have hunted just about everyday since opener with a drake Mallard and Lessor to show for it. Not sure if it is me or the Ducks in the Forest Lake area are really down. I mean I am hunting the same spots that have always produced. I am wearing the same clothes, same boat, same dog, still chewing Grizzly Wintergreen, same @$%^ ing hat, same spreads that I have always used. I am hunting the right winds in the right spots I KNOW I AM!

But what is the deal? Are the ducks lower than expected???

Or was this last week of tropical weather tossing a wrench in our duck season.

    Anyone else having any luck?

I am venting a little. I have a daughter on the way in Dec. and my wife gave me the go ahead to hunt as much as I want. The trade is I dont think I will be on the ice 4 to 5 nights a week this year So I want to kill some ducks but all I see are WOODIES that will not decoy for nothing. They wont even give up a passing shot. Holy balls I hunted last night in the wind and cold saw 6 Woodies that give me the finger as zipping by doing Mach 3. You ever just want to scream when your trying everything that you know????????????????

    blah blah blah…………

I think it’s quite obvious…… you smell! Try swithing to Skoal mint and you should be money. You’re welcome for the tip!

Don’t get burned out yet! Good things are going to happen in the next two weeks. Last week was rough for a lot of guys. It seems like this year, you either hit “the spot” at the right time, or it is a bust. The cooler weather that hit yesterday really makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. The real duck opener is about to begin.

Definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over expect a different outcome.

Looks like it’s time to scout and shake up the spread a little.

That Skoal is some dry yucky stuff

Well tonights hunt will be different hopefully. I was tossing big spreads with no Mojo. Not sure why??? But tonight both Mojo’s are charged up ready to spin. And I am only bringing dozen deeks out and 1 Mojo. Maybe a smaller spread will do the trick. I dont know.

But MM is right with the weather turning good finally! The weeks coming should be really good!!!

Ok I had a big dip and a Mt. Dew. Life is good!

Try finding some recently flooded ponds before the woodies take off. The change of pace may be good.

There is zero hunting pressure in my area, and the ducks are not moving much. Hate to say it but I hope some more people start hunting with the cooler weather.(Just don’t take my spots)

A few areas i hunt in have received so much rain that crop feilds and low lying grassy areas are flooded. Thats where all the ducks are sitting in those areas, there is too much food for them to go to the “traditional” spots. Might be the problems in your area.? If so, spend your time scouting and knocking on doors get you into the birds..

Dude, you duck hunt every day and ice fish 5 nights a week, and have a family like that?

Who cares about how many ducks you get, you need a reality check man, ’cause you have it made and don’t even know it.

I saw a ton of birds this morning on the way to work – Hwy 65, Mora-Minneapolis. It looks like the cold weather has got them moving.

Getting a chance to sit in the marsh for a week shouldn’t even remotly qualify as the “Worst Week Ever!” Things haven’t been the best but its extremly early in the season, I had better luck in Mn than Wis last week, but Wi provided a banded woodie I have to head back out The big greenies will be in town before to long.

Hey guys I am not complaining at all about my wife and or life. I have THE BEST wife and a pretty darn good life. Plus I am lucky enough to have a wife that understands the passion and how hunting drives me!

I am not really that pissed about not shooting a ton of ducks. I was simply venting my frustrations in this forum. I use this site to gain knowledge, meet some new folks, and speak my mind about the things that matter to me the most! No reality check needed on my part. I do take my hunting seriously and with a grain of salt at the same time. I love to do it. Maybe my dry sense of humor came out in the wrong way.

There is nothing better for me then to being a MN duck hunter right now

Bring on the cold and SNOW!
