As I posted before this is my first full season of Hunting. We drew a spot out on the Rock River that already had a blind from two years ago. It needed some work and we got out and got started today. This morning we put a frame in for a new floor, and also fixed the dog ramp. Most of the post holding the ramp started braking away just from me putting my foot on there. So we drove new 2X4 into the mud and nailed them into the ramp. We also had to cut a boat path into our blind area because of all the pads. I really only have about 50 yards to drag my boat now!!! A little less if I really wanted to run the boat in and out and blow some mud out.

Here area a few pictures I the face lift on an old blind

Here is a look at the pad field in front of my blind that I need to deal with. I have the okay from the IDNR to cut out a spot for decoys but its going to be a long had process.

Here is the frame work for the new floor. Insted of taking the old floor out we used the old frame and just built off of it. The old floor was not to bad, but I really did not want to be moving around on it when it gets wet.

This is a nice side view of my blind with the boat hide attached. All the old brush was left over from two years ago.

This is the front view of my blind. As you can see we need to fix the roof. It is strong but it really bows in the middle. After we get the new floor in we are going to add some braces from the bottom up. Or we might just take the roof off and build a new one alittle higher.

Cut a BUNCH of that follage on the trees in the backround and screw it on the blind to make it look like a bush or a little more natural and clear the pads out and you sir will have a VERY nice area to hunt.

Lookse like you need a weed eater to cut all the lilly pads in front of the blind for a landing zone.

Way to be ahead of the game! If you can find some willow brush us that on the outside the leaves will stay on for the whole season.
As far as getting the pads out of the way tie a anchor to a 1/4″ rope and go in circles around it this realy gets the pads out quick
    good luck

It is all willow trees behind my blind. But since I am hunting on DNR land you need permission to remove any of the branches. Just like the lilly pads!!

We are looking for someone that is needing to cut a big willow tree down. Or maybe a long needle pine tree. My brother is going to cut one of his pines down so I can always use that if I need to.

I am going out today to finish the floor and also put in the new bench/decoy locker that I made yesterday. We might even fix the roof if we have time.

Got out today and put the new floor in my duck blind. We also raised the roof up two feet and put in the new bench/decoy locker.

It is really starting to come together now Just some paint to tone down the new wood and then brush it up.

Here is a picture of the decoy locker.

Well I tried to get out and paint all the new wood in my duck blind today. Well I did get some painted and I also put the new wood on the roof. But with all the rain we have had in the past few days that water was way up. We had about 6″ of water in the blind. The river came up about 3 feet. I was able to run my boat all the way into my boat hide.

We did clear out a ton of pads today as well. We cleared a big whole in front for most of the decoys. We cleared are small whole behind use for some woodies!!!

Now all I have left is to wait for the water to go down and paint the floor. Then brush it up and I will be ready to go. It seems like its still a long way off, but we have to be done and brushed up before the last week of September .

I will post my last pictures when its brushed and I get the decoys out.

I can smell the breakfast cooking now
