Way to go Goosekiller, now you are admitting that that is a large goose, and it is congrats to you. But once again all I am tring to say that 14lbs and over are very rare. And yes I realise they do exist, but I think the average goose hunter should be told the truth and let the fanticy of the normal goose of 14 or over is not the norm.By the way wheres the picture and how many geese that you killed this week were over 11 lbs ???

This weekend was slow. A lot of birds but hard to work. Three geese over 11#. The rest around 9-10. You are right in your staement that 14+lb geese are rare, but not uncommon expecailly later in the year.

Thankyou I think my point is finally taken the right way.And I agree the geese are not cooperating very well right now. We will get a warm-up this weekend when the regular season closes.go figure. Best we can hope is that the warmup continues and a few inches of the white stuff for the late season.

What do you guys think the goose in my left hand weighed? For comparison, I am 6’4″ or so and around 270 lbs. This was my largest goose of the year so far.

Shoot ‘n Release was out with me that day too. That goose made a lot of jerky I’ll tell ya. I heard about the big goose contest the next day on my way to work via the radio.

Shoot ‘n Release and I thought she went close to 15, but we will never know for sure. Eating a fresh batch of smoked jerky and remembering how it decoyed so nicely is rewarding enough for me.

Chappy whats your point. Like I said average is around 10 lbs. You are a weakling. And later in the season doesnt mean the geese become bigger.

    Whatever..Time for you to leave!

Man, why didn’t we weigh that? Could it have been due to the large amounts of alcohol consumed the evening before? Short-term memory loss, etc. I remember talking about the contest that morning before we even shot the bird. The next time I thought about weighing it, was when we were eating it.
