Goose hunting around the Rochester area has been great. Saturday started off with cool temps, Southeast wind, cloud cover and drizzle to light rain. The birds came and were very cooperative. We worked numerus flocks and did not want to take anything unless they were right in our face! We shot a couple of singles and flocks in the 3-6 range. We ended needing eight birds to fill our limit and were working a flock of about 12 when we had 9 sneak in from behind us at about 8 feet off the ground. They swung around front of the pits right in our face and we dropped our 8 birds! The dogs retrieving the bird looked around trying to figure out which one to pick up! All in all a great day!
The other picture is from 10-26-06 and that was a great day! 32 birds by 9:00! We landed a flock of 12 and tried to get a flock in that was just behind them. The other flock banked off to the outside of the decoy spread. The landed flock got up and we dropped all of them! What a morning that was.
The goose hunting will only get better with the colder temps and hopefully SNOW to come!
Good Hunting!!
