Hunting around home is gettin a little better. With the wind and the drop in temps last coming in last night I thought for sure this morning would pan out to be another better than usual MN duck hunt and it was.
Our day started pretty fast to say the least. Out of no where and I mean no where as I never saw them coming. I was looking at my decoys wondering if they looked good as they were boucning pretty good in the wind. When I looked up and we were getting dive bombed by a bunch of buffleheads. They took us by such surprise that 30 of them landed in our decoys. After yelling and walking out right to them yelling even louder the hopped up and we dropped 1 nice drake and 2 hens Seems to happen that way some times.
The next set was 10 mergansers and we drop 2 more hens Now I am checking my gun to make sure my barrel was on tight or my red dot got knocked loose or something. Nope it was me. We followed that up with a spoonie. After that we had a single drake mallard come in and decoy like you see on T.V. (he was lunch).
We are now one short of our limits now. So we figure that we did pretty good again but I talk my uncle into staying for another 20 mins. Freezeing and getting bored I decide to play with my goose call. Suddenly there are mallards dropping out of the sky as we are getting our cases and shell boxes in order and not being ready we but unloaded our guns with nothing to show…..
All and all it was another cold crappy wonderful day!!
