I figured my fellow duck hunters would be able to help me out.
I called the Super 8 in Appleton to find out it’s closed. The town of Appleton no longer has a place to stay.
I want to stay in Ortonville, but don’t have a cheap place scoped out.
Anyone have a cheap hotel scoped out in this area?

Thanks for the tip. Just called, they are booked. It’s pheasant opener this weekend, which doesn’t help.

We stayed at a place down there a couple years ago that was cheap yet decent. They even allow dogs in the joint.
Only thing is I can’t for the life of me remember the name of the place.
I stayed with Steve Plantz, Buckshot, Chappy, Stickboy, and Kooty was there too. Hopefully one of these guys can chime in with the name of the place. Either that or give one of them a PM.

Wally and Star will be your host and hostess. Yeah Star is her real name. They actually sent me a card last Christmas!!!
They were great…nothing fancy but I have stayed there a couple times and would stay there again if I get back out that way.
There is a decent bar/restaraunt directly across the road so you can crawl home. I believe Kooty can vouch for that!!!

That Super 8 is for sale, but according to the lady I spoke with at the city hall, she didn’t feel it was a fair price. Not a single motel in that town right now. Shooter Bar holds all those wedding receptions with no place in town for people to stay.

I think I’m locked in to this cabin on Big Stone though.

FYI: They made some major improvements to the campground since last fall. I have not seen it, but I’ve heard they put a lot of work into the campground.
Without the Super 8, I can only imagine there will be more people at the campground.
