early season calling?

    Hey what are you guys all seeing out there calling wise so far this year…i have noticed no need to smoke the calls loud as can be all i do when i have actually called at the birds is a mild drake whistle or a little feeder with a quack or two at most….anyone else doing anything different at all?

    The only time ill call at big ducks is when they looked interested in my dekes but fly past. I give them one quick comeback call and ive had some luck to get them to circle around again. I use the 6-1 quite a bit on woodies and teal and have had some real good results with that. I decided this year I’m using my calls a lot less.

    restraint is always a good choice
    Most of us are not nearly as good as we think any how
    You know what I’m talking about….
    Every time you hunt public water, there has to be one of those carnival whistles within ear shot
    Each situation requires a little different tactic, but early season is rarely the time for excess calling.
