    Alright Fellas,
Where are people going this weekend?
I have a feeling that the few minor weather disruptions that we had this week, have probably reshuffled the deck a little.
    What are we in for?
    cheers

Had some decent shooting on Sunday. There were a lot of teal flying in Southern Minnesota. This cold snap coming on Wednesday is going to be really refreshing. Heading up north this coming weekend for my first crach at the divers.

Here is a picture of a couple geese that made the mistake of decoying real nicely. The birds sunday seemed to decoy nice and react to some moderate calling. It was very refreshing.

I wouldn’t get too hyped up over this mini front we’ve got coming through…..These early season cold snaps tend to be very overrated….just too early!!!

Nice Geese MM. Shot a couple my self this weekend. There were a fair number of birds for us on SAT.. Nothing to get all fired up though. 2 geese 1 YOUNG drake mallard and 2 woodies. All our shooting was done before 900. I’m thinking this will be a good weekend to get the dog out for some roosters. Give it another week and hope for extended COLD! I’ll be in alex the 20th-the 22nd then around fergus the 1-3rd. Hoping to see some movement before then. If anyone is heading in those areas let me know what you see. PLEASE!!!!!!

My lack of correspondence probably gave good indication of how my weekend went
The good news is that I salvaged my weekend yesterday
This past weekend was primarily a working weekend up north. I did fit in abreveated hunts each morning and evening, with my buddy getting a teal and woodie on Saturday and only one drake woodie being taken on Sunday.
But yesterday after I completed my work day, I stopped into the in-laws in the Cambridge area. I jumped one pond and filled out on teal
I have spoken with the DNR, many hunters & guides and some resort owners regarding the migration.
Apparently the LOW area is holding a couple rafts of ringnecks, over 1,000 birds in each, and a number of Bills have shown up in the past 1-3 days.
I did see Canvasbacks, Redheads, Goldeneyes and Ringnecks in the Brainerd/Nisswa area this past weekend.
The teal and woodies are blowing south quickly.
The Bemidji area has produced for the people in the know, that are willing to work the right areas
The SE river valley sounds to be seeing new birds daily (Jake or erick?)
West Central (chriss) seems to be consistantly producing the typical bag of woodies, teal and a few mallards, with hunters getting birds, but not many limits
Everyone, everywhere seems to be banging more geese this year. Some guys are getting their first and others are simply shooting them in areas where they are not accustomed to doing so. Goose numbers seem to be consistently great, from Fairmont to LOW.
The rumbling that I am hearing though, regarding our three day cold snap, is that it will only affect Minnesota birds, not the Canadian birds. It is apparenty hitting us from the west/northwest. Our meaker birds will be bailing out of Minnesota, but the front will not be far enough north or east to push more down, during this spell.
I’m doing the same as chriss, and shutting things down for a couple of weeks, to get some other stuff done.
I will hold off until MEA break, when I will be back working the Gull Lake, Leech Lake and Winnie areas.
Unless of course, one of our dedicated posters here has a report that demands my attention
    cheers

Quite honestly have not seen the river yet and dont need to yet since I have enough birds here and up at our farm to keep me busy so jake or kris might be able to help us out there….right now as of last night I am seeing a lot of new geese moving into the area so I think this weekend could get wild unless they keep moving and make it a bust…but the more I look at this weatehr I honestly think it is just going to kick the teal and a few woodies out and bring in a few stray new birds but nothing to major like someone said earlier I am starting to believe but we should start seeing some more ringers and what not…so let’s go get’em!!!

Tuesday’s Report, Seen more teal and woodys today, than earlier. Fotgot my calls in the truck, but still managed one goose, would of had more chances if I had a call along.

Grump. You probably bagged that goose because you left your calls in the truck.

Floating bog lake again I see. Were there large groups of mallards flying around the lake. I’m heading north this weekend. Do you have to work?

Hunted the “home field”. We were wrong about getting on the water there, it was so easy I could have left my waders at home.

There are definatly still birds down here on the river, but nothing overly exciting at this point.

Hunted this morning for the first time since Friday. We chose a backwoods hole over the bigger water……Some woodies flying around right at light, but not much after 7:30ish. Ended the morning with 3 woodies, a gaddy and a BWT. Shooting was on the fair side.

Did see some bigger ducks flying around, including some that looked like they were heading down river. There was also some shooting going on in the main marsh, but you never no what they can be shootin at out there (there are a lot of coot around )

Most impressive sight of the morning was the continous strings of geese flying down the main channel from 7-7:30…..I’d say they be migratin
