    That’s funny!

Lar’s goose did the same thing!!! Too bad it wasn’t banded. That would’ve been even funnier.

Here is how the story actually goes. We had a single come in. Lars shot it and it dropped right next to Erick. I went over and picked it up. It was head shot and was bleeding. I did not want to get bloody and ring it’s neck, so I kneeled on it. After about 1 minute, we had another flock coming in so I shoved it in a snow bank and barried its head in the snow. After the flock did not come in, we saw the goose walking in the decoys and sent the dog after it. The dog got about 5 feet away and the bird got up and flew around the spread and all the way back in town! I have never seen this in all my years of guiding.

You forgot the fact that when you hit the buzzer, somehow Lar’s Ninja like reflexes pounded open the door and the birds was laying on the ground before the rest of us could even open the hatch.

I was in his pit and still can’t figure out how he shot so fast.

I was pumped up for about 10 minutes while that bird was on the ground –

How quickly that changed when the darn thing decided to pull a movie stunt on us.

Remember that part in that one movie (ok, all movies), where the good guy turns his back on the enemy and while he’s not paying attention, the bad guy wakes up and takes one more shot. Only problem is the bad guy got away this time. ???

    Good times!

It’s too bad that goose didn’t get to break in Mallard’s new smoker with us Saturday night. I bet if he knew he was going to be marinated and wrapped in bacon, he wouldn’t have flown away.

I’m in SW Rochester and just saw a bird fly over in the fog with a bandaid on it’s head. Is this your bird??
