Well, I had to take advantage of my last spring break by going back to SD and having a good ole fashion Snow Goose Rodeo.

I went with 4 of my best buddies and we had a total blast!!!! We hunted from Monday thru Friday. Birds everywhere from day one, and 3 of the 5 guys have never hunted spring snows in SD, so it was fun breaking them in! We got snow on Tuesday I belive, and we were busting drifts with the bumper for a day, until it melted and became a muddy mess. The birds seemed to get a little dumber with all the snow on the ground……and having good snow camo helped sneak up on birds as long as you remained somewhat motionless.

I would have LOVED to decoy birds, but we had the ditch running, pass shooting, and sneakin down to a sceince (almost! )…..so i stick to whats working.

total was about 235……..if you guys question what in the world people do with all the meat. We cleaned every bird, and allready ground up a good chunk of it for burger and jerky mixes. The rest will be used when the sun pops out and the grill is warm………and the leftovers are for a huge pot of BBQ snow goose at our graduation party in a month or two.

Awesome pictures. Looks like a great hunt. This is the first year I have ever hunted snows. What a blast!!

We need details on that 55 bird sneak…..how many guys got how close?

The most we got on one sneak was 11….that was two guys within 35 yds

55 bird sneak was a standard pond jump……..5 guys came over a knoll and basically shot down on the birds about 40-yds out. The mass of the birds was on the opposite site, but not accessable by any means. Spent over an hour making sure we have every last bird picked up, since them cripples seem to swim/run/fly off pretty quick.
