    Word from out west is there are about 5-10,000 snows around sioux falls, SD right now. Man there will be an early and quick migration if this weather stays like this, 40’s in jan. in MN and in the 60’s in Neb. wow. Started to get the serious itch when my buddy couldn’t stop talkin about it.

    It’s supposed to hit 50 in Sioux Falls by Thursday

    As much as I’d like to believe the main migration hinge’s on day light/time of year/natural bird instinct, I have to think weather like this is gonna be moving birds NORTH

    Just got this off the Squaw Creek Refuge site……

    SQUAW CREEK NWR WEEKLY WATERFOWL AND BALD EAGLE SURVEY 1/22/2006
    01/22/2006 – posted by Frank Durbian, Refuge Wildlife Biologist
    Bald Eagles = 96
    Trumpeter Swans = 10
    Snow Geese = 52,000 (many more in area)
    White-fronted Geese = 75
    Canada Geese = 11,220
    Mallards = 33,710
    Black Duck = 1
    Gadwall = 85
    American Widgeon = 2
    Northern Pintail = 100
    Ring-neck Ducks = 601
    Common Goldeneye = 1,160
    Common Mergansers = 200

    52,000+ many more in the area seems like a lot to be there already……..If I remember right, Squaw is only supposed to top out at around 200-250,000?……..if that’s true, they’re already a quater of the way there!!!

    Yep….It’s gonna be early this year

    There are even some reports of numbers in the 200,000 to 250,000 range in that area. Makes a guy wonder if it is the whole NW mizz. area or just in and around the Squaw Creek area.

    If they give the report for Squaw Creek, it is there. There is also Bob Brown refuge that is close the Squaw but they do not count them together.
