Well, its near the end of the season. Unfortunately, I havent been out for abuot a week now, which is NOT normal, our roosts are fozen……..plus the semester is ending and finals are coming up with lots of reports due, and heavy drinking has been mixed in to make our lives extremely busy lately!!!!!!!!!!

I am gonna miss being a college student…..and being able to go out hunting and drinking non stop. We are always working on the “4 G’s of the Mallard Militia”………Get a field, Get Drunk, Get some azz, and Get a Limit !! Sometimes it works, other times we get shut down……but its always fun trying.

I did ALOT, and i mean ALOT of videotaping this fall……i was behing the camera nonstop and i have over 30 hours of tape ranging from duck banding in september with the DNR to late season honker hunts in teh snow, to women and drunken fights in the snow. I cant wait to edit it this winter!

anyways, i just thought i would share a few of the better days in the field……please enjoy, here they are in NO order……with a little comentary

1st snow of the season…i had to skip a test so i could get out hunting…LOL (i am on left with camera)

    http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b187/BrianSchmidt3/IMG_2070.jpg

when the snow arrived, we really started pounding them! apparently its “cool” to look tough in hunting photos, i think we try a little to hard…..LOL.

same hunt…….after we limited out in 2 flocks, the birds KEPT coming!!!!!!

    http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b187/BrianSchmidt3/IMG_2093.jpg

my roomate lives in southern wisconnie, and his buddies gave us a call on thrusday and said hte birds where hitting thier feilds with reckless abandon….so at about 1:30 am, we loaded up the truck and trailer and headed south for a pretty fun several days, leaving classes and women behind.

    http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b187/BrianSchmidt3/IMG_2277.jpg

my buddy’s dad and friend are chasing down 1 last goose that sailed across the feild so we got greedey and took a pic. had a flcok of 25 with half of them touching the ground this evening.

    http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b187/BrianSchmidt3/IMG_2232.jpg

had some decent snow on the last weeknd of duck season, so me and my roomate wanted to shoot greenheads, we took turns shooting 1 ‘beaner per flock, it was FUN to say the least.

dunno what this goose was thinking…..obviosly alcohol related i assume

ever look at the contents inside a mallards gizzard? well there aint much! but i am just finishing up a research project that looked at gizzard content of mallards in 3 states and ages of ducks i harvested etc. pretty fun “class assigment”

    http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b187/BrianSchmidt3/gizzards.jpg

PS…….i am almost POSITVE there are no bird repeats in those pics. we just have alot of freinds that like to come to our house if we provide a keg and a crockpots full of tastey migrators…lots of birds, but they ALL get eaten up fast. Went thru 3 big crockpots last night, and a keg in only a few hours LOL!

    Nice pics, MudCatKid

Looks like you and your buds had an awesome season!

Thanks for sharing. I didn’t get out nearly as much as I had hoped to this season. Your pictures have got me day-dreaming already about next season

jake……ya…… my season was lacking in the GREEN deptartment…. . We shot alot of mallards, but i have had better years. the last 2 weeks fo the season is when we started to really see them around. The geese were everywhere tho…from start to finish!!!!! we couldnt pass up a good goose shoot, and ended up hunting feilds over half the time. It was a phenominal season in every aspect!!! i had the most fun ever, hunting with all my close buddies and my college buddies are all leaveing, so we made sure to have a good time!

fmp………no steel shot in any, or lead for that matter.

Great pics MudCatKid Please post more if you got’em. I didn’t get to hunt near as much as I would like(wife, kid, job, etc.). I went to college in Aberdeen, SD, and I had a tough time making it to morning class being 27 miles from Sand Lake Refuge I rescheduled most my classes to the afternoon! It is awesome to see the next generation of waterfowlers are just as crazy as we were. Thanks, 690reece
