Never really got the MNDNR’s reasoning behind that one.
Didn’t you guys still have a 4 mallard limit? Was this 4 duck limit then an effort to save the widgeon, gadwall, redhead, teal, etc.?
If it would have went to 4 birds, 3 mallards or something, I think it would have looked more like trying to save MN’s resident mallard population. I didn’t get it, still don’t.

im glad they changed the 2 hen limit to one but i also dont get the reasoning for them changing the limits to 4

There was NO biological/scientific reason at all. The MNDNR had some meetings before the season started and said that lowering the limit will have minimal ,if any effect. They said that reducing the days would impact the harvest…but then they go ahead and reduce the bag limit?
It makes no sense. I think they were trying to appease all the so called hunters who just go hunting to see the sunrise….you know the kind of guys who won’t go when its cloudy…or raining…or to cold….or to hot…or to far away!
Apparenty…these guys have been crying a river to the DNR to lower the limits in hopes that they can go anywhere and kill a limit. Plus….they don’t really want to be out there much longer than to see the sunrise so a lower limit might allow them to go home earlier….or at least say they were only 2 or 3 ducks short of a limit!
