Interesting goose weekend! Rochester

This weekend was alittle tougher goose hunting than hoped.We still ended up shooting around 90 birds but had to work for them.The weather has gotten very cold and froze-up alot of water around the area.Silver Lake is almost froze-up but they are supposed to fire up the steam power plant this week and that should open it back up.There are still plenty of geese sitting on the Zumbro river though.We ended up shooting 68 geese on Saturday and mid 20’s on Sunday.Hope for warmer weather for the late season and thing should be booming again.With the colder temps,we will be getting in the rest of the migrators from up north very soon.The Twin Cities is freezing up fast and they should be making there way to us soon.Good Hunting!

i stick to WI and we’ve been doing good. most our roosts are freezing up, some birds are starting to leave, but we only got 2 more weeks, so hopefully they hold out for us! this weekend was cool too…..the roost to the east of us had birds leavin in the AM around 9 and the roost to the west had birds that left at 3pm……like clockwork.

I love the “poof” that dead geese make when the hit the fresh snow too!!!! hahaha………..plus it makes for good video

We had 3 fields going.1 field was really hot on Saturday and the shot 54 out of it.We ran 3 different groups from different field through that field that day.

We took some of our customers out friday w/top gun guide service and got our limit of birds but it took all day. We probably would of been done earlier if we could shot & I guess the cold weather also did not help. Jared & Matt were our guides and did a great job.

Thanks for the post Drake.The cold weather has been a pain in the .We are still shooting birds,but it is getting alittle tougher.As far as the shooting,join the club .

I was in the first group in the “Hot” field saturday morning. It was my 3rd hunt this year with Top Gun. All three trips were limits across the board!!!

Thank Meat!We try to do our best.Just remember we are still hunting “wild” animals.We shot 6 out of the field I hunted at 11:00 with the trucks and trailers in the field and the geese still wanted to land. I wouldn’t of believed it if I wouldn’t have been there!We still have the late season.
