The goose hunting around Rochester has been awesome the past week. With the cold and snow the past week the birds have been very cooperative. The field I hunted on Friday,we shot one short of a limit (29) by 10:00 am.A total for the day between 5 fields of 117 geese. Saturday was almost a carbon copy.We shot 27 by 9:15 and a total for the day of 96.The rain that came Saturday night and Sunday made the fields a sloppy mess .We hunted a grass pasture and shot a limit by 8:30. :applause.According to the Dnr,there is about 36000 birds in town right now.Pray for snow and not this rain.I will try to keep a update or visit our web site at http://www.topgunguideservice.com for kill numbers of ducks and geese.Missouri duck numbers right now are about 74000 ducks,40% pintails,32% mallards.Going down in two weeks to wackem and stackem.Good hunting!

Matz.Sounds like you guys had great luck. The hunting around here with the snow has been great!A 10 lb’er is still a big one.If it gets really cold by the late season,we might see some of those big old giants coming down.

Good to hear the geese are on the move. After a abismal deer season(didn’t see a buck) I decided to scrap sunday and hit the marsh. It was half froze and boy did we shoot the ducks. Ended up with 9 mallards between 3 of us and probably saw about 300-400 in the air. Sure makes my week brighter after what the damn deer did to me!

Goosekiller- What are your predictions for this weekend? Have you guys hit the 1000 mark yet for Canadas?

After the snow we had last night,I think the geese are going to be in big trouble this weekend! We have been shooting limits for 10-12 guys not later than 9:30 at the latest lately.I do not know why this weekend would be any different. We accually have SNOW and the wind did not blow it around. And the answer to your other question, yes we have shot over 1000 birds. The count as of 11-30 is 1016!! You can follow the count and latest pictures on our web site.www.topgunguideservice.com. Good hunting!!!

I’ve been to Top Gun and they are top notch!!! If you are a serious waterfowler and think, “I’m not going to hunt locally with a guide service, I can do it on my own”. You are dead wrong. Go to Rochester and give it a whirl! Think of it as an adventure!
