November 21, 2005 at 12:11 pm #12287Just wanted to throw in another update. The geese up here were very cooperative Friday,Saturday was a good day also.Friday was a quick limit for 12 guys with 24 geese within about 1 1/2 hours.Saturday started out fast and ended up ok but hte birds seemed to get spooky. We ended up with 77 birds on Saturday.Alot slower on Sunday. The afternoon duck hunting on the river was great with alot of Mallards,Gadwell and yes some Spoonie’s.I had talked with the Dnr and the confirmed somewhere in the 25-30000 bird range in Rochester area.Good hunting!

November 21, 2005 at 9:41 pm #12402I do not know of anyone that carries a scale in the field. The average goose I’ve seen around here has been between 8-12 lbs.Sometimes later in the year you may get acouple of 14 and a possible 16 lb’er.Those are the giants with a white band across there forehead between there eyes.

November 22, 2005 at 11:34 am #12434Those big girls will make some of the best dogs run!! They can really do some damage. They make a big “thud” when they hit the ground and a huge splash when they hit the water.

November 22, 2005 at 12:49 pm #12435I carry a scale in the field to make sure there are no liers when they get home.I have goose hunted in Rochester area for thirty years and have only seen several over 13 lbs. I know you guides let your clients take all the geese home, what do you all say to a biggest goose contest
