I am planning a scouting trip on the Mississippi, near Brainerd, later this week for divers .
I will put in at Lum Park in Brainerd and head NE toward Riverton.
I would greatly appreciate any info regarding rough water, submerged obstructions , etc.
A solid recommendation for a navigational map. specific to that area would be great as well.
The IDA folks will likely view this as a simple request for assistance !

My new ETec just turned 1 month, that would be very uncool!

Dan and Bob have not spent much time that far up. They provided good general information about the river in that area , but no specifics.
That means I’m still in need of some insight if anyone can help !

It has been 3 to 4 years since I lived up there. BE CAREFUL! I have more than one prop on the wall from this stretch.

    Thanks Chris,
Sorry to hear about your wall hangers .
Is there a decent map that you can recall for that area.
I do have land topo and aerials, but nothing for the water ?
Hey, how is the duck shootin’ ?

Talk to Mike W. He spends a good portion of time up there chasing the fishies.

No good map that I am aware of. Unfortunatly it is mostly trial and error . The fowlin can be really good at times. We have had some great Mallard shoot on that stretch. If you are heading up that way and have acces to a smaller boat. Take a look at the gull river and the Pine river. They can both be very good. Gull can also have a great diver shoot if your timings good.

Sorry I can’t be better help with the river.

I did shoot Gull Lake last Sunday with limited success.
I am sure to consider it again this weekend out of convenience.
I am not familiar with the Gull River but I am very familiar with the Pine River. I have hunted there since I was only allowed to carry a BB gun!
What stretch of the Pine are you familiar with?
That is my Friday night spot if I choose not to scout the Mississippi.

Thanks Gator Hunter, I spoke to Mike W.
Apparently this stretch is not really his home water either.
I am growing more and more leary, due to the fact that people either have not spent much time in this stretch or do not want to offer enough information to make me want to try it!
