Was out near Stoddard today. Saw a TON of ducks, but they are all WAY high Like (300-400 ft) and seem to be going from the refuge south of Brownsville up to the refuge by goose island. Had 4 that decoyed somewhat but flared when my wonderful fellow duck hunters across the way sky busted them for me. I really miss the days when people with ethics hunted far away from you, and if they were close, they didn’t shoot at the ducks you had working your dekes/call just because they flew near them.
I am really gonna miss these and this crapola when I move up to Duluth.

No quackin birds today but at least I got my pup “Bill” out and shot a few times at blackbirds to see he isn’t gun shy.

This morning from what I could hear, there must have been 500 lbs of steel shot over Lake Onalaska. Sounds like they were having a field day. Almost made me wish I was pounding ducks then, I remember how much I like golden walleye fillets!

Good luck on the ducks Wade
