These are pictures from our hunt this morning. 2 of us – 2 Greenheads, 1 Drake Woody, 3 Hen Gadwalls. We got the drakes just after sunrise. Then for 3 hours we we were watching blackbirds and Cream‘s. The other four were taken on our way out, from some backwater, in a span of about 5 minutes. I figured out I could uncase my gun and get three shots off in a matter of seconds. As you can see, the big Greenhead has a couple curls on it. Considering putting him on the wall.

I can only get one per post as well. Can’t help you there.

Very nice drake. Is the rust color pretty filled in on his upper breast? I can never find the perfect one to mount, I’m always too picky.

Have you seen alot of gadwall this year? I haven’t, just a few.

I am the guy on the left of the pics. The drake is pretty dark. It could be better, but the overal size was nice. I shot a mallard last year that was completely green on the body. My brother and I shot 6 out of the group and they were all fully green. We kept the two biggest to mount, but were reluctant because we were not sure what they were. Probably someones pet ducks, but they look cool.

We have seen quite a few Gadwalls. I would like to fill up on mallards and woodies, but Gadwalls work too.

    Gundy,

It is good to hear from you. We should get together and do some huntin’. Or atleast do some grillin’ or something.

Mallard, Good to hear from you. Nice job on the mally’s!! Stopped by Lar’s place saturday. He showed me more pictures. He also told me about Moose!! Sounds like the making of a good dog. Lars said you gave your girlfriend a hog ring on a recent duck hunting adventure! Great. Now when you get married produce some duck hunting people!!. All kinds of geese going over the house as I am writing this. About 10:15 this morning. You guys should look into field hunting around here. We will write later.
