Oddly, I have not heard any other reports of significant northern bird action south of the U.P.
Scouting NW of the Twin Cities discovered the first diver rafts of the season.
    Blue Bills and Ringnecks!
I spoke with the area C.O., as we were both glassing the same bodies of water, and he confirmed these to be his first sighting of true rafts as well.
I’m locked in to head north on Wednesday for a 5 day mission.
Please post any reports from the Twin Cities on north.
Bring ’em close and shoot straight!

I have seen plenty of ringers since the beginning of the season.. seen my 1st flock(only) of bills last week north of the metro. I havent been out since up that way.. fishing is good, back to the ducks next week.

    Thanks Dave.
We did pick-up one Redhead on opener up north of Brainerd.
We saw a few very small flocks of ringies, but that is far less than normal for us up there.
More reports and we might all score!

Northwest of the Twin Cities was the scratch for this weekends itch.
Saturday presented good numbers of birds; geese, swans, mallards, golden eyes, red heads, ringnecks and bluebills.
A beautiful morning surrounded by solid ethical hunters; good decoy spreads, good calling and practiced restraint (no sky-busting)!
I feel like a kid again, anticipating my northern Minnesota trip for the divers on Wednesday .
Please provide reports for the north country, if there are any.
    Good luck folks,
