Van Loon hunting area.

Can anyone give me any info about this place? All Ican find is a very poor DNR map and that its north of why 35 on the way to Trempeleau. Where are the boat ramps? Is there anywaher to hunt ducks there?

Well, Van Loon is a mixture of hardwoods and swamp land. I only know of 1 boat landing and it is on HWY 35. There is a sign and it is on the left side of the road if you are heading to Tremplo. The river is small and shallow. From the landing, it is public north for 6 miles. There are also various small creeks in the interior of the property. I have never duck hunted there, but would think there would be ducks in there. There are a number of wood duck nests throughout the property. If using the ramp, I would strongly advise a mud motor or an airboat. The small river is full of wood. Hope that helps some.

I have a 16′ flat with a 18hp Go devil…wanna go check it out Mr Watson? From the satelite picture I get on Google Earth it looks pretty swampy in there.

I would be up for it. I took my duck boat up the river once. A lot of it would be boating a ways and then getting out and walking a little bit to get to the real swampy areas. Just let me know when you want to go
