Like I said before I don’t want to start a war either…just like to get my 2 cents in there sometimes ya know.
I know the 23 Briggs (don’t make for go-devil anymore) goes somewhere around 18 mph they say. How true is this??? I have no idea. Pro-drive…they say there 27 Kohler, which I am assuming is the same motor as they make for go-devil since Go-devil has Kohler motors on them to will go 24-25 mph. Speed is all in the boat I say. I have a 18′-0″ extra wide flat..flat bottom and have raced 16′ with the same motor and just killed them. With go-devil you need to spread the weight out as much as possible so you can get back in those tough to reach places with little to no water in them. Now, not sure how it works with the pro-drives, but the ones I have raced they only had them on 14’and 16′ boats and they were pushing water big time. I would say the same would be for the pro-drive as go-devil. Don’t go with anything but a flat…flat bottom cause it will just stop you from going in shallow water.
For turning….it comes with experience I think. At first it is a chore to try and figure it out, but once you have the hang of it….not a problem at all.
Oh..almost forgot the most important part. Driving 20 mph and hit something in the dark with go-devil?? Yeah, you go for a fall, but if you hit something in the dark with an outboard do you jerk forward or fall foward at all?? They do make handles to hang onto for the go devil, but I think they just get in the way so I free fall.
