Anyone use the new (Zinks) Greenhead Gear Full-body Canadian decoys at all? Just curious to get some reviews. Bought some of the mallards last fall, looked great and work excellent but I have heard that others had problems with the paint. Just curious to see if the same results come out of the full bodys. 13 more days….

Never used the new Zink’s, but if they are like any of the other Greenhead Gear decoys, they will be nice. Had a buddy that thru a dozen mally’s in the water for the 1st time and it was like he was throwing them in paint thinner, cause “bam” the paint was gone just like that. He called the company and they sent him a new batch I think.
“Mallards in the sky, duck call around your neck, gun on the lap and a dog by your side.”
You know what they call this??? HEAVEN

August 21, 2004 at 12:09 am #2990Just received my new Avery full body Canada’s yesterday and man they are awesome!!!!! I bought 6 active and 6 feeders. The lookers I have ordered won’t be in for a few weeks. They are unlike any other decoy I have seen. The Avery shells have the flocked heads also and look great. The new flocking seems to be very durable but they don’t have any field time yet so it’s hard to say. I have always been a G&H guy until I got these. They are cheaper and better in every aspect.
Good Luck!

August 21, 2004 at 2:44 am #2993A buddy of mine has a bunch of the new Avery mallard blocks. They are the best looking blocks I have ever seen. If they ride well in the water and the paint holds I’ll be getting a couple dozen very shortly.

August 23, 2004 at 6:20 pm #2996Thanks for the reports guys. I am seriously considering some, but want to make sure they are “what I want” because they are quite pricey. Just wanted to make sure that they are the brand to buy and I got the responses/reports that I wanted to see. Ducks4Me, just a heads up, a friend of mine had a bit of trouble with his first dozen (the paint), but Avery said they had a “bad batch” go out, so look them over for chips or cracks in the paint before you purchase.

Best Regards and Good Luck,August 23, 2004 at 7:07 pm #2997duckilr, Your exactly correct. The paint on the Avery’s was a big problem on the original duck decoys. I’m just going to wait and see what happens with these new decoys. They supposedly have the paint problem fixed, if so, I’ll be gittin’ some.

August 27, 2004 at 4:28 am #3089Hey Nubby,
I am not from up in your area, but I know the Gander Mtn. down here in Iowa has the full body feeders, actives, and the shells. All with the flocked heads. They are $129 for 6 full bodies and $119 for 1 doz. shells. The guy from Gander said all of our stores should carry them now. Worth a look anyway. They are awesome!! Hope this helps.Good hunting!!

D.September 2, 2004 at 2:52 pm #3147Well I saw both the full-bodys and the shells at last weekends DU fest. Boy, the flocking has sold me. Would like to wait around for someone to let me know how that stuff lasts, but I am afraid that I’ll be the only guy left out there without it, leaving me one step behind the competition. Nothing like having the edge, going to break down and buy some at Cabela’s Fall expo this weekend. I’ll let you all know how it lasts/works.

September 3, 2004 at 11:31 am #3164Duckilr,my buddy, has flocked dekes and they look awesome in the set up. Make a real difference and it keeps that glare off your dekes for the more real look. Just my 2 cents.

September 3, 2004 at 6:00 pm #3177Well since it’s pay day today, and cabela’s generally collects a percentage out of my paycheck anyways, I figure I might as well pull the trigger on some. Next year I’m gonna need a trailer like the boys in the other post cause the old garage is getting filled right up. As for cabela’s, boy, I should own stock in that company as much money as I spend at that place.

September 3, 2004 at 6:15 pm #3180I second that notion duckilr, probably going to drop a few pennies there this weekend. Need to stock up on shells for the upcoming season. Have you heard of any rebate deals going on?

September 3, 2004 at 6:50 pm #3186Seen at the DU Fest that both Federal and Winchester have 20 bucks off a case. Might be worth a look. Otherwise if you have time, check out how the new “Wolf” steel shot. I heard they have that stuff for less than 6 bucks a box (now that’s cheap, cheaper than I can reload) If they had the speed I was getting then I’d shoot them and save myself the time on them.

Sounds like you had a little run in with the dekes. Only thing is if a guys run into the trouble you did in the middle of season he isn’t going to be so happy. Pretty tuff hunting without dekes. Just hope someone figures this paint deal out, cause it doesn’t matter which decoys you buy they all do it.
Boy….sounds like you paided a couple guys paychecks at Cabela’s. Got some good stuff I am sure though.
